Many years ago a good friend suggested I take up photography as a hobby. He planted the seed that has blossomed into an all-consuming, life-changing pursuit of beautiful, unique, and sometimes enigmatic images. Although I have no formal photographic education, I have studied the best – Galen Rowell, Ansel Adams, John Shaw, B. Moose Peterson, Thomas D. Mangelsen, and Art Wolf. In the light and dark of their visions, perspectives, and sensitivities I have developed my own “eye”. Through that eye, I attempt to capture the beauty of nature, the majesty of wildlife, and the grandeur of cityscapes. Having been published in several different forums, and having won numerous awards, I have enjoyed some success. Most importantly, what my friend gave me all those years ago was a new way to look at the world. There, through the camera lens, I see it differently now. The World is full of beauty and mystery I never saw before. Richard P. Hoppe |
